The authors present some criteria that can be applied either to test a time series for the existence of non random oscillations of a given period or to find out which non random oscillations are present in a time series, according to a fixed confidence limit. As an example they show a scanning in time and period length for non-random oscillations, performed on the time series of Climax cosmic ray neutron 5-day averages, from 1953 to 1979.
