A balloon borne instrument has been constructed to measure the energy spectra of cosmic ray heavy nuclei in the range of ≡0.3 to ≡100 GeV/amu. The main emphasis of the instrument is the determination of the change of the ratio of iron (26) to the iron secondaries (21 - 25) in the energy range of 10 to 100 GeV/amu. Preliminary data from a balloon flight in the fall of 1982 from Palestine, Texas is presented.
