During two balloon flights of the MISO telescope in 1979 and 1980, the Crab Nebula and Cygnus X-1 were studied in the hard X ray - soft γ ray energy band. The Crab Nebula was observed in 1980 and its spectrum was measured up to 2 MeV. Cygnus X-1 was observed on both occasions and was found to be in different hard X-ray states: in a superlow state in 1979 and in a low state 1980. No γ ray excess from this source was measured above few hundred keV.
