The effect of charge transfer reactions between single and double ionized oxygen and nitrogen with hydrogen is shown to modify strongly the ionization structure of these elements in models of gaseous nebulae. The computed fractional abundances of O(+) and N(+) result quite larger than in models which do not consider these reactions. That brings to a better agreement between theory and observations in the line intensities emitted from low ionization potential ions in planetary nebulae.
