The gasdynamical effects produced by the subsequent formation of stars within and around H II regions are studied. The evolution of ionization fronts and their interaction with shock waves and other ionization fronts are followed numerically. The appearance of dense ionized shells (or filaments) in H II regions is explained as a natural consequence of these interactions. Estimates of the total emission measure from the H II region at different times of the evolution are given along with typical values of the expected velocity dispersion within the flow.
