A transition in accepted cosmic theory from a magnetic field description to an electric current description is propounded. The change in paradigm in cosmic plasma physics was surveyed. Particle description often gives a better picture than a hydromagnetic one. A frozen-in field line model is sometimes useful, although often erroneous because of boundary condition mistakes. The inhomogeneous structure (cellular structure) of space plasmas is emphasized in opposition to homogeneous models. Electric circuits offer a good first approximation. While the evolution of the solar system continues to be explained almost exclusively by mechanical forces, plasma effects seem essential for the formation and evolution of interstellar clouds, for band structure, and for cosmogonic shadow effects.
