Tantalum abundances, or upper abundance limits, have been determined by neutron activation analysis in 10 chondrite specimens, 3 achondrites, 3 siderites, 1 specimen of meteoritic olivine, 1 specimen of meteoritic troilite, 4 tektites, 1 impact glass, 1 soil specimen from a tektite occurrence, and 1 deep-sea sediment. The chondritic tantalum abundance of 0.021 ppm found in this work is in good agreement with the value of 0.023 obtained by and (1960). The similarity of tantalum abundances in tektites to those in common terrestrial materials is noted.
