The nucleus of comet C/1975 R1 (West) was disintegrated during its perihelion passage. On the images of the comet dust tail one can see five synchronic bands which were formed by dust ejection during the disintegration. The study of the brightness distribution in the comet dust tail allowed us to make some important conclusions about the dust particles which were ejected during the active processes on the comet nucleus. We calculated the distribution of the surface brightness along the synchronic bands with a modified Finson-Probstein method. the method gave a good fit the observed brightness profiles along the bands to the calculated distribution. The size distribution of the comet dust particles, the dust production rates and the velocities of particles have been found.
