The frequencies of three pure rotational transitions of HD gas, R(3), R(5), and R(6), have been measured at low pressure, permitting improved values for the rotational constants to be estimated. Line widths, strengths, and transition moments have also been determined. The values of the dipole moment derived from the intensities are 8.47 + or - 0.09 x 10 to the -4th, 8.1 + or - 0.8 x 10 to the -4th, and 9.9 + or - 0.3 x 10 to the -4th D for the three lines, respectively. A line-narrowing effect was observed that permitted an estimate of the self-diffusion coefficient.
