It is shown how the essential results of 's theory of equatorial
sporadic-E can be predicted from simple theory and how the simple theory
exhibits the physical mechanism underlying 's theory. It is concluded
however that 's more elaborate theory is necessary to predict the
observed wavelength dependence of the Es irregularities.
