We study the open quantum dynamics in the nonlinear optomechanical device with a single photon recently investigated by Nunnenkamp et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 107, 063602 (2011)]. We consider the details of exchange of a single photon between the cavity mode and external continuous field. With an exact analytical solution, we present a rigorous study of the single-photon interferometer, studied previously by Marshall et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 91, 130401 (2003)], for investigating macroscopic quantum superposition of the mechanical oscillator. The resulting time evolution of the interference visibility displays interesting new features, and only in the limiting case of a short photon pulse input, it recovers the result of Marshall et al. Additionally, we consider the possibility of engineering arbitrary quantum states of the mechanical oscillator in such a nonlinear optomechanical device.
