We consider shock wave discontinuities of current and explain their impossibility in the "electric" regime (time-like currents) of superconducting string, that was previously discovered in numerical simulations. A shock wave can become unstable in the presence of infinitesimal perturbations of the string worldsheet (extrinsic perturbations). The shock waves in the "magnetic" regime are not vulnerable to this instability, but the shock waves in the "electric" regime do not survive.
