In this article we will derive the exact expression for the electrostatic potential of an extended charged system for points outside the source. We will illustrate the significance of this expression with a few examples. We will also show that the integral version of Gauss's divergence theorem is in general not valid and we will rederive Maxwell's equations. These discussions also lead to some important consequences for Classical Electrodynamics, Mathematical Physics and the Physics of the Elementary particles taking into account of their finite volumes.
