The role of CERN's large electron-positron collider (LEP) in the study of particle physics is discussed. The use of LEP to investigate the Z(0) lineshape and the number of light neutrino species, to search for the top quark and the Higgs boson, to test QCD, and to study lepton and quark couplings is discussed. Future prospects at LEP are addressed, and a tutorial is given on how to read Feynmann diagrams.
