Solar Photosphere: Large-Scale Structure, Solar Granulation: Structure, Solar Granulation: Supergranulation

Scientific paper

An analysis is made of the results of a two-dimensional photometric reduction of spectrograms (λλ5040 - 5060 Å) and photoheliograms of granulation (λ4600±200 Å) with the spatial resolution 0″6 and 0″25 respectively. The velocity of the rising and lowering of matter and its correlation with brightness fluctuations of details in the continuum increases with the growth of absolute values of the latter. A gathering of large granules into mesogranular cells with the average scale (diameter) 6 - 9″is noted, to which an enhanced rising of matter corresponds. Formation of large granules and mesogranules is considered as a result of interaction of penetrating convective outbursts with photospheric layers. All the four existing scales of photospheric structures, corresponding to granulation, mesogranulation, supergranulation and gigantic granules (cells) are considered as genetically interconnected convection formations and reflect processes, taking place in corresponding different inner layers of the convection zone of the Sun.
