Using 3D resistive MHD simulations of magnetotail reconnection we explore properties and consequences of flow bursts in the tail. Consistent with observations we find earthward propagating dipolarization fronts, stopping, bouncing, and both azimuthal and tailward expansion of dipolarization. Test particle tracing in the MHD fields further shows the important role of the localized electric field associated with the flow bursts in particle acceleration and the generation of energetic particle injections.
