A response is made to Zelenii and Zogin's (1988) critique of a previous work of the present authors (see Voronov and Krinberg, 1986). In particular, the necessity of a detailed, and not only an averaged, examination of the dynamics of magnetospheric particles is substantiated. An analysis is made of the effect of pitch-angle diffusion, occurring with change of the particle velocity modulus in each act, on the growth of the mean energy of particles trapped in the one-dimensional neutral sheet.
