An analysis of the electron density ( N) measurements, performed using a semiempirical model describing the relation of N to the thermospheric characteristics and the integral flux of ionizing radiation energy ( E), makes it possible to estimate the relative content of atomic oxygen, if we can assume that the E value is correctly described by the available model of the spectral distribution of the ionizing radiation energy. Alternatively, we can estimate E that should be used to coordinate the observed and computed values of N. Such estimations of the N measurements were performed at the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics in 2003 and 2004. The discussed estimates were made for the average state of the thermosphere-ionosphere system during summer periods.
