A systematic deviation is shown to exist between the observed and calculated velocity of the secular precession of short-period cometary orbits. Also observed was the secular displacement of maxima in the distribution of the nearly parabolic comets according to the node and perihelion longitude. The displacements take place in the opposite direction relative to the direction of planetary precession. The lower limit of the mass of the perturbing body is calculated from the value of these displacements; it turns out to be greater than or equal to 0.025 solar mass. This body should be located near the south pole of the elliptic.
