The model problem of reconnection of magnetic fields in a conducting medium on condition that the sizes of the magnetic channels of the reconnecting fields be restricted is solved. It has turned out that as a result of reconnection the strength of the magnetic field in the region of the current layer is restored to its initial value and the flux values of the reconnecting fields are reduced. Bulges are formed on the surface of the magnetopause that move away from the reconnection site and that are associated with the motion of FR regions (regions bounded by the shock waves formed as a result of the decay of the original current layer).
