Gravitational lensing is discussed with respect to background source imaging and the role of dark matter as a lensing agent. The observed features of the lens systems 2016+112, 0023+171, 2345+007, and 1635+267 are well reproduced by models that consist of normal galaxies accompanied by galactic halos of size 75-150 kpc and mass 1-2 x 10 to the 13th solar masses. It is shown that the image features resulting from the lensing of extended sources cannot be reproduced by models which are based only on point sources.
