The biases and uncertainties introduced in statistical samples of QSOs by photometric variances from the emission lines and from the fluctuations of the sky background are considered. Error effects considered include spurious trends, random residuals, and enhanced statistical variances. Correcting for the present effects, the evidence for strong evolution of the QSO population is preserved, but the average timescale is somewhat lengthened.
