A two-dimensional, gasdynamic computer code is used to study the evolution of gas clouds undergoing radiative acceleration in the presence of a confining medium. The initial clouds have uniform density and temperature, are approximately spherical in shape, and are in photoionization equilibrium with the central, nonthermal source of radiation. Parameters are chosen so that the clouds are optically thin. Adiabatic heating and cooling are included; the effects of line cooling are discussed. The clouds are either given an initial velocity such that the ram pressure of a relatively cool external medium balances their internal gas pressure, or the external temperture is chosen high enough so that the clouds are thermally continued.
