The possibility of a fluctuation in the Hubble constant with the passage of incoming light through rich clusters of galaxies is investigated through statistical analysis. The Hubble modulus, which takes into account the magnitude of galaxies, is studied as a function of a parameter based on the angular distance of the given galaxy to nearby galaxy clusters as well as the angular radius of the clusters. This analysis is carried out for a sample of Markarian galaxies sorted to eliminate Malmquist bias. A best-fit curve is obtained for the distribution of the Hubble modulus versus normalized distance to galaxy clusters; the variations which the curve describes are found to be statistically significant, indicating that a real physical effect is involved. Calculations taking into account a hypothesized solar motion, or using a modified criterium of distance, are also performed.
