I will show that the radial speed of centrifugally driven magnetospheric convection is not expected to exceed the local corotation speed, irrespective of the conductance of the planetary ionosphere. This limit may be approached beyond a characteristic distance Lc (~ 18 planetary radii for Jupiter; ~ 3 for Saturn), but cannot be exceeded if the centrifugal force of corotation is the primary driving force.
