Solar Activity Cycles: Oscillations, Solar Activity Cycles: History
Scientific paper
Negative correlation between the power and duration of 11-year solar cycles was used for an investigation of solar activity in the past. The time sets of the thickness of annual sequoia rings and the annual silt layer at the saki-lake bottom were used for studying time variations of the solar cycle duration. An about 2500 yr periodicity in appearance of the very long solar cycles (duration more than 11.5 years) has been discovered. The longest cycles took place in 1000 B.C. and 1550 A.D. Deep depressions of solar activity and minor ice-ages on the Earth took place in these epochs.
