The power of short wave radio signals forward scattered on small scale
inhomogeneities (oriented along the geomagnetic field) of the
ionospheric E region are calculated using an expression for the signal
scattering cross section. Formulas are obtained for the power of both
quasi-continuous and burst-like H sub E scattered signals.
