An algorithm is presented for the differential improvement of the orbital elements of earth satellites. Only first order gravitational perturbations are taken into account, and the secular part of the perturbations is derived empirically using approximate values. Differential improvement is applied to the perturbed orbit, the osculating orbit, and the smoothed orbit. Tables of numerical results are presented.
