The Buechner and Zelenyi theory is applied to Jupiter's magnetosphere. The instability parameters of this theory are computed by using a magnetic-field model, and the chaotic collisionless reconnection is shown to be possible. The results obtained are compared with the available experimental data, and possible consequences of the collisionless reconnection on the dynamics of Jupiter's magnetotail are discussed.
