Climatologies of mean winds, tidal and gravity waves are discussed and compared with reference atmospheres and numerical models; physical processes and inconsistencies which require particular attention by observational networks and modelers are addressed. Coupling between winds and waves, and between middle atmosphere and lower thermosphere during shorter campaigns are considered using data mainly from the Saskatoon MF Radar.
