The possible stimulation of a turbulent boundary layer in the auroral ionosphere by the periodic heating of the ionospheric plasma is examined. It is shown that oblique Alfven waves forming a turbulent boundary layer at the inner (ionospheric) boundary of magnetospheric convection can be excited efficiently using two spaced short-wave transmitters, whose frequency difference is close to one of the natural frequencies of the ionospheric Alfven resonator.
