The author summarizes the observational properties of dust, as based on
(1) the extinction over a factor of 100 in wavelength (0.1 μm - 10
μm), (2) on polarization, both linear and circular, (3) on rather
narrow emission and absorption features in the spectrum, and (4) on
reflection nebulae. He then discusses theories.
