The neutron capture cross sections of Sm-148,149,150 were measured over the 4-250 keV neutron energy range to a precision of 4.5 percent. These data, in combination with calculated cross sections for Nd-147 and Pm-147,148, are used to establish a set of Maxwellian-averaged cross sections useful for the study of branchings in the s-process of stellar nucleosynthesis. The ratio of the values of the s-process current (Maxwellian-averaged neutron cross section times s-process abundance) for the s-only isotopes Sm-148,150 is 0.91 + or - 0.03 rather than unity as predicted by the local approximation. This result is interpereted as due to an s-process branching which partly bypasses Sm-148.
