The fourth-generation lepton triplet model of Foot, Lew and Joshi implies the existence of a new neutrino without tree-level neutral-current couplings. The radiatively-induced couplings are sufficiently small to enable such neutrinos to escape quickly from the core of a supernova, yet sufficiently large to maintain a thermal distribution. Emission and energy-loss rates are derived for the allowed parameter range of the model, and are used to severely constrain the model by estimating the effects on the observed neutrino signal from supernova SN1987A.
