We study the behaviour of nonrelativistic quantum particles interacting
with different backgrounds, namely, the generalized Kratzer potential in
the spacetime of a cosmic string and the Morse potential in the
spacetime of a global monopole. In both cases we find the energy spectra
and show how they differ from their free-spacetime values.
