Steve Howell (NOAO, Tucson) has requested observations of the novalike variable VY Scl in support of his upcoming spectroscopic observations with the Very Large Telescope in Chile. The observation window is over the next one to two weeks, so observations are requested from now (November 11) through the date of the VLT observations, which will be announced. VY Scl is currently in its faint state and is very faint at V = 18 +/- 1 magnitude. V-band observations are preferred; signal-to-noise of at leat 10 is also preferred. Please keep exposures times below 900 seconds if possible. Please report observations to the AAVSO International Database as VY Scl.
