The present conference on novel astronomical observation technologies discusses current efforts in astronomical adaptive optics, segmented mirrors for wavefront compensation, videopolarimetry for metrology and telescopic observations, high spatial and temporal resolution imaging with the Ranicon, computer-fringe blocking for aperture synthesis in space, and mechanical collimators for EUV spectrometers. Also discussed are an interferometric investigation of the fundamental solar astrophysical scales with the Solar UV Network, beam combination in aperture synthesis from space, speckle imaging and spectroscopy, the availability of IR detectors, results in extragalactic astronomy using a 32 x 32-element IR camera, the design of the IR Space Observatory Camera, and the detectors and arrays of the ISO's photopolarimeter.
