A survey is presented of the occurrence of strong ionospheric sporadic-E
for South Pacific ionosonde stations covering a period of many years.
The seasonal characteristics indicate the presence of strong non-solar
effects with, for example, subtropical data showing strong afternoon
enhancements of sporadic-E activity in the autumn.
