High energy γ-rays from SN 1987A were searched for at the Black Birch Range in New Zealand, using a scintillation counter array and mirrors for Cerenkov light. An upper limit on the γ-ray flux greater than 100 TeV was about 3.6×10-12 cm-2•s-1 from 13 October to 3 December, 1987. An upper limit on the γ-ray greater than 3 TeV was 6×10-12 cm-2•s-1 during December 1987 and January 1988. Data obtained on January 14 and 15 have excess counts corresponding to a flux of (1.9+/-0.5)×10-11 cm-2•s-1.
