Elysium Mons, Albor Tholus, and Hecates Tholus have summit calderas,
lava flows, and flank faults. Their morphology indicates they are shield
volcanoes. Evidence for pyroclastic volcanism is absent. Surface
mantling results from aeolian deposition.
