Evidence supporting the hypothesis of an extended solar cycle is discussed. The presence of ephemeral regions which exhibit sunspot characteristics and have a magnetic field opposite to the one in progress is examined. The relation between atmospheric currents and coronal patches and an extended solar cycle is studied. The effects of giant eddies in the convection zone of the sun on the earth's climate are investigated.
