The effect of the sunspot magnetic field on the sizes of photospheric granules located in the vicinity of the penumbra (within 1-2 arcsec from the penumbra-photosphere boundary) is studied. The sizes were measured with respect to those of granules located far from the penumbra (20-50 arcsec). It is confirmed that the mean diameter of the granules is smaller in the neighbourhood of the penumbra; moreover, the size of these granules is smaller for large values of the umbral magnetic field.
