Glassea produced by direct fusion of five U.S.G.S. standard rock powders have been successfully analyzed for Si, Al, Ti, total Fe, Mg, Ca, Na, K and P. A versatile probe data reduction programme allows a wide range of standards to be used and data can be collected and processed rapidly. Results suggest that the technique may find wide application as a method of analysis of rocks, of suitable types.
