Meteorites: Cosmic Rays

Scientific paper

The results of a calibration of the sensitivity of olivine crystals from meteorites by means by 238U nuclei at the Bevalac accelerator are reported. It is shown that the group of ancient tracks ≡210 μm long found in 1980 was caused by galactic cosmic rays of the Th-U group. The possibility of an unambiguous identification of a group of anomalously long cosmic-ray tracks, 340 - 360 μm long, is discussed.
