Magnetic reconnection was proposed to account for the solar flares. This paper numerically simulates the magnetic reconnection occurring in the corona. It is shown that the apparent motions (the rise of the flare loop and the separation of its footpoints) are the natural results of the magnetic reconnection. Slow MHD shocks emanating from the X-point contribute to the flare loop heating. It is interesting to point out the flare loop may rise despite of the spatially-fixed reconnection point.
