We have constructed a phase-binning CCD system for the sensitive time-resolved photometry and polarimetry of optical pulsations of isolated, rotation powered pulsars. The camera was used successfully at Palomar in 1998. We propose to bring this camera to the Blanco telescope to perform sensitive phase-binned imaging photometry and polarimetry of the Vela pulsar and PSR 0540-69. In 6 hours of integration on the Blanco telescope, we will obtain 2% polarization accuracy and 1.5% photometric accuracy in 20 phase bins for Vela. To date, only the Crab has polarization measurements. Detections or strict upper limits on linear polarization vs. pulse phase in Vela and PSR 0540-69 will yield critical new constraints on the optical emission geometry, location, and physical mechanisms in young and middle-aged pulsars.
