Unequally spaced data points in the spectral analysis of impulsive signals from short-period WWSSN seismograms are considered. Signals so recorded are reconstructed by a skilful selection of a minimum number of linear segments. This leads to an enhanced efficiency and accuracy over regularly spaced digitization. The Fourier transform of segmented functions follows directly from the derivative theorem. Examples illustrate the Fourier transform of theoretical and observational samples computed using equally spaced and unequally spaced data points.
