In November 2009 the results of the IBEX mission will be presented, very likely shedding new light on the global heliospheric structure, and the complex neutral-ion interactions. Interplanetary background data must fit in this global perspective. We will present an updated view of the global set of Lyman-alpha data (SOHO/SWAN, VOYAGER/UVS, HST/STIS, and the results of our recent analyses.
