Consideration is given to the two body problem of a disturbing body and a disturbed body, with the earth-moon system examined as a particular example. Both bodies are taken to be general and it is assumed that their gravitational fields are described by Stokes constants of high degree and that the mutual orientation and position of their ellipsoids of inertia are known. A general solution is obtained for moments of the external disturbing forces in the case when harmonics up to the fourth degree are retained.
