Observed periods of pulsating stars provide information about the
properties of the stars. As examples I here consider double-mode
pulsators, solar-like oscillations and delta Scuti stars. The ongoing
expansion in the observational efforts in this area may be expected to
lead to increasingly detailed tests of stellar evolution theory.
